ANNOUNCEMENT
On the 13-th of July 2016 at 12.00h in the meeting hall of IBIR, a scientific seminar will take place according to the following program:
Uncertainty and Plasticity in the Immune Response
Tchavdar Vassilev, Stephan Angelov Institute of Microbiology, BAS
The immune response is traditionally regarded as a sequence of quite well understood intercellular and intermolecular interactions that results in the protection and survival of our body in a hostile environment.
Recent findings make, however, this sequence look more complicated as basic characteristics of immune cells and even molecules could be dramatically modified during an on-going immune response. One of these findings is the process known as "receptor editing" in B- and T- lymphocytes that changes their functions and individual fate. Other variants of cell plasticity shall also be discussed in some detail. Interestingly, circulating antibody molecules could also be modified after circulation through inflammation cities. The newly acquired properties and the therapeutic potential of antibodies with induced polyspecificity shall be discussed.
Everyone is welcome!
